She was active in the school's music program and the youth activities at First Baptist Church. Elaine married the love of her life, Jerry Flavin, on June 28, 1980. After obtaining her cosmetology license, Elaine went on to open her own shop, Steel Magnolias, in Palo Cedro, retiring in 2014.Being "mom" to three active boys was a joy for Elaine. She was the ultimate classroom mom, supporting the boys in every way. The greatest joy of Elaine's life was found in her grandchildren. She had to spoil them long-distance, but that didn't slow her down! Elaine loved anything Disney. Her collections fill our home. But, nothing excited her more than Christmas and all the decorating and baking involved. She was already making preparations for the holidays. Because of her love for animals, the family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Elaine's memory to: Another Chance Animal Welfare League, PO Box 494274, Redding, CA 96049.A Celebration of Life service will be held at McDonald's Chapel, 1275 Continental ST, Redding, CA, on Friday, December 9, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in adjacent Redding Memorial Park.
